Blessings of the Week, November 16, 2010

The Right Now Conference:

Last week I had the chance to attend the Right Now conference. It was a combination of worship/speakers/break-out sessions. Speakers included people like Max Lucado, and it was amazing. I was so thankful for the chance to learn and just soak in information for two days.

Disciple Now:

Each year First Presbyterian Church puts on a Disciple Now Retreat. It's an in-town retreat. We bring in speakers, and the junior high students stay at one house and the senior high students stay at another. It was a blast, as usual. I have soooo many pictures I could post, so many stories I could tell. But, I will just say it was an amazing weekend. I'm thankful for the leaders who came in for it, for the families that sacrificed their houses for the weekend, for those who cooked food, and for those who came.

San Antonio Rock n Roll Half Marathon:

I love to run. Last year this time I was recovering from abdominal surgery, so I'm very thankful this year for the ability to run. I'm not in the best shape of my life, but I'm just enjoying the sheer act of running. This past weekend was the San Antonio Rock n Roll Marathon and Half Marathon. Michelle and I ran, and I had a great time.

We took a picture before the race, because we had plenty of time as we were waiting for it to start.

I love the San Antonio race because it's such a fun city, and there are so many cool things to see.

Some of the spectators were boring and surprisingly quiet, but some were fun, supportive, and others had very amusing signs.

I saw two people who really inspired me. The first was this guy on a walker.

The second was this woman pushing someone else in a wheelchair (who by the way kicked my tail).

I love the shirts people wear for the race - this one in particular made me smile.

Post race photo!
